Today's my birthday. Yes... it really is. 25 years ago, my mom gave birth to her third child and here I am today. In Japan. With no friends. No family. No husband. Bah! It's been a pretty good day, regardless. Almost all the students I ran into said "Happi Baasudei (Happy Birthday) Ms. Kerry!" Oh yeah. I felt the love. I also feel like shit because I know that all of the other teachers aren't so special when it's their birthday. Ugh!
Anyway, tonight also happens to be the big birthday buffet for the dorm kids. I guess I'm twice as lucky then, huh. Not only did I get tons of cards and play games during class today, but I also get a buffet ("viking" in Japanese). Oh no. No cooking for this July baby. I'm going to go to the buffet, eat, be merry, and then maybe pick up a chu-hi before going home. This may be the first birthday that I'm completely alone, but I'm going to make sure I'm ureshii (happy), damnit!
